Washington D.C. Part 2
On our second day in D.C. we took a long walk to Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial! We also saw the Korean and Vietnam war memorials.
After that we headed to our scheduled tour of the White House! We had to wait a long time outside (luckily the weather was nice), but once we got inside it was really neat!
We had a late lunch at Luke's Lobster downtown afterwards (one of Daniel's favorites when he is there for work...he introduced it to me two years ago when we were there for a wedding and it's delicious!), then back to the house for a much-needed rest. I wanted to go to one more museum before the day was done, so we went to the American History Museum, one of my favorites! We saw Julia Child's kitchen, the First Ladies' dresses, the Wizard of Oz ruby slippers, a piece of Plymouth Rock, the original Elmo, and the most exciting for me was seeing Prince's Yellow Cloud guitar on display just a month after he died.
Then we took an Uber (where Avery took a quick snooze) out to Arlington to Daniel's PWC friend Tom's house for dinner! It was fun to see him and his wife Sarah, and their cute red-headed toddler Saoirse. Tom's cousin and his family were there so Avery had two little girls to play with, and our friends Kate and Justin came over too.
