Back To School!

We've started another great year at GCA! Avery is super excited to be in Mrs. Davis's class, and Aidan is having fun in Mrs. Greene's class. We went out for dinner at Olive Garden to celebrate the start of a great new school year. I already miss the lazy summer mornings but love being back in a routine. Bring it on, 1st and 3rd grade!

Burger Lake

A couple of my friends had been to a fun "swimming hole" in Fort Worth so my buddy Tracey and I decided to take Aidan, Avery, and Kaelyn and try it out! We packed a lunch and stayed there all day...it helped that the weather was awesome and didn't get above 90! It was SUCH a cool place. There were water slides, diving boards of all heights, and even a trapeze. The first thing Aidan wanted to do was the high dive, and I was so proud of him because both kids are not fans of heights (just like their mom). Avery didn't try the high dive or the trapeze, but she and Aidan both jumped off the low dive a ton. I think Aidan did 871 front flips! My fearless co-person encouraged me to do the trapeze and the low dive, which I did but I am just not into hurling my body into the air in my old age :) It was a great way to spend one of the last days of summer with two of our favorite people. We'll see you next summer, Burger Lake!

Cunningham Reunion

We ventured to Comanche this past weekend for the 125th annual Cunningham Reunion. These are the descendants of Aidan and Avery's great-great-great-great-great grandmother Elizabeth "Betty" Cunningham and all of her siblings. We don't go every year but we wanted to make this one since it was a milestone year. It's outdoors so it's hot and muggy, but there's plenty of shade and lots to do...crafts, water slide, silent auction, meals, and visiting with family!
We stopped in Crawford on the way there so the Stewards could keep Griffin, so we swam and of course Kathleen had lots of animals to show us!

This and That

Only a few more weeks of summer! We've been busy but have had fun! Here's some of what the kids have been up to:

Avery did a cheer camp through the city and loved it!

Daniel signed the kids up to do a Crossfit Kids Camp at the facility he and Cody do crossfit (Sage signed up too!). It's twice a week for the rest of the summer. It's different and fun!
Aidan and Avery have gone to a couple of Fun Day Fridays at church. First they went to a spray park, followed by snow cones and a snowball fight. They invited their friends Hayden and Haylee (brother and sister in their classes at GCA) and had them over for a sleepover! This past Friday they went bowling and invited another brother/sister duo from their preschool days, Chase and Kella. I didn't get any of the boys but I did get one of the girls having some girly talk :)
Don't forget Griffin!

Family Fun

We've seen a lot of my family recently! A couple of weeks ago I took the kids to Six Flags using some free passes they won by reading for school. My parents were in Texas for a wedding, and they surprised the kids by showing up! We had a great time, until Avery got sick so she and I went home early and Aidan stayed to do some more rides with Papi and Grammy. My kids are like me and are not very adventurous when it comes to rides. But Aidan did the Mini Mine Train, the Log Flume, and the Mexican Hat (my favorite when I was a kid!)
My dad stayed one night, and my mom stayed for the week. She and I took the kids to Hawaiian Falls, and this year we decided to try a new one out in Roanoke. It was really neat, but I think we'll stick to our local one from now on :)
The kids and I met my cousins for lunch and we got to meet Baby Gwen! She is so precious and of course we had a ton of fun with the Jolly gang...so much fun, we had to FaceTime the family members who weren't there, then made them "chat" with each other:
My sweet cousin Meredith offered to come out and help Avery with her cartwheels. Avery wasn't exactly a serious student so I think she has a couple more years to go...but it was so fun to see Meredith! We treated her to dinner at Frankie's, and then she came back and watched Frozen with us. She had never seen it and Avery couldn't believe it!
