Northlake VBS

Our church had their VBS last week and the theme was Amazing Wonders! Avery was in the preschool class with her friend Becca, and Aidan's kindergarten class was full of buddies so he had a blast. I handled registration and also took pictures and acted as a floater for teachers that needed to be out. On Thursday I taught the kindergarteners! I was a tad anxious about it (I am SO not a teacher) but it went great! I had two youth workers which were a huge help, and even though there were 17 6-year-olds they were so sweet and I had a lot of fun. It turned out to be something I really needed after a sad couple of days (a friend of mine tragically lost her husband on Tuesday). Avery got sick on Thursday night, so she and I missed the last day which was funny because the exact same thing happened last year...only I wasn't sick alongside her this year. Our children's minister is amazing and I'm so proud of the way our church reaches out to kids in the community to teach God's word :)

Sea World

While we were in San Antonio, we drove over to Sea World for the day! I knew the kids would love it, especially Avery the animal-lover. It had rained the night before so I was hoping for a little drizzle during our visit, but no such luck...it was pretty hot. The park was very spread out and difficult to manuever while trying to make shows at different times, but we had fun. We fed the dolphins (our favorite part!), saw a Shamu show, rode a roller coaster, went to a Pirate 4D show (Aidan loved it but Avery did NOT!), and saw alligators, penguins, stingrays, and sharks. We weren't sure we wanted to squeeze this activity into our family vacation, but I'm glad we did :)

San Antonio

Last week we took a family vacation to the Westin La Cantera resort in San Antonio. I love that our kids are old enough to be FUN on vacation instead of it being too much of a hassle! They had a great time at the resort pools and the nearby "Discovery Junction" with inflatable water slides. We made s'mores every night (except the first night when it rained), we went on a Nature Trail hike, and Daniel and I also dropped the kids off at the Kids Club one afternoon so we could enjoy some kid-free time at the adult pool :) One of the highlights of the hotel stay was doing the Looney Tunes character breakfast one morning. My kids loved it! The scenery around the hotel was beautiful and we had a great time.

This thing was huge! Aidan loved it but Avery was too intimidated:

Both kids went down this water slide about a million times:

The kids CRASHED each night...we were up late and had no time for naps. We had a suite so Daniel and I had a semi-private bedroom.

We also got to stop in Waco to have lunch with the Steward clan!

Mollie's Wedding

One of my dear friends got married this past weekend! Mollie and I went to church together growing up, and we were part of a very mischievous, hilarious gang of girls :) It is SO fun to be around these old friends and laugh about our youth group days. The wedding festivities were all so special and fun, from the bachelorette party:
