Opening Day

Aidan rode with his team the Rangers in the Opening Day parade this morning. Then they had their first game, which they won! Despite being the smallest, youngest, and most inexperienced t-ball player on the team, we thought Aidan did great :) I took pictures with our point-and-shoot because I didn't want to keep up with my big camera, so my pictures aren't great. I'll take better pics at the next game!

Good game! We won!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patty's from our two lucky charms! Our Spring Break has been pretty low-key. Aidan has had playdates at Tate, Kaelyn, and Chase's houses (thank you mommies!) and we went to the park with friends yesterday. We hung out with Amy, Sage, and Logan, and even Cookie was in town for dinner last night. And can I please brag about Avery? She is a potty-training rockstar!!! Over the past three days she has had ONE #1 accident but I'm still waiting to see how she does with #2 (not sure what the hold-up is...). She was a teeny bit feverish today which is why she looks a little puny.

Flocked!

A couple of days ago I walked outside to get the mail and found these beautiful decorations on my lawn. We had been FLOCKED! Aidan and Avery thought it was the neatest thing ever. The youth group at our church has been flocking houses as a fundraiser for an upcoming mission trip. We have our friends Catherine and Todd to thank for this...and we paid it forward by paying to have the flamingos "fly away" the next day to the house of our friends Jessica and Chad (who also happen to live right behind us). And yes, I am ashamed of how my flowerbeds look...it's on the to-do list for this spring!

Big Girl

I have devoted this whole next week (which is our Spring Break) to finally getting Avery potty-trained! On Friday, we went to Cody and Amy's house and Avery gave all her diapers (except the nighttime ones, of course) to Baby Logan. This seemed to work well with the pacifiers so we'll see! I turned our downstairs guest bathroom into "her" bathroom with a potty chair, chart, books and things to do, plus rewards and stickers up by the sink. And the Sad Bucket has made a reappearance, although it never had much of a "shaming" impact on Aidan and doesn't seem to on Avery either! Oh well. Anyway, she had tons of accidents that day but no successes. Saturday morning was more of the same...but then that afternoon on 3 different occasions she told us she needed to go BEFORE she went in the potty (and one more time this morning)! Still plenty of accidents, but we are very slowly making a tiny amount of progress :) Aidan has been a super sweet and encouraging big brother. He is just as excited as we are when she goes potty! Some nice friends have offered to let him come play at their houses on different days next week so that will give me some time to focus on Avery. Wish us luck!

Also, here is her new big girl bed! The "little red (white) bed" has been passed on to a distant cousin, Avery's 4th cousin in fact! Her new bed was once Aidan's crib, then her crib, and even Cousin Sage borrowed it for a little while. We bought a new mattresses, bedding, and conversion rails and voila! It's a little higher than I was hoping, but she can get in pretty easily.

Misc

I took the kids to visit my friend Stephanie and her new baby Olivia who were in town from Austin! My friends Mollie and Whitney were there too...I can't BELIEVE we didn't think to get a group picture! But here is Olivia :)

We hung out with my friend Sarah and Rhett, Wyatt, and Bryce at the mall this week.

Here's Aidan doing a worksheet from a fun reading program I downloaded a while back. He's really interested in phonics (loves to sound words out in the car, etc.) although he still has a ways to go with reading and writing. I'm treading lightly so I don't push it and make it not fun :)

Sci-Fi Tech Animation Center

Tracey and I made another field trip together, out to the Sci-Fi Tech Discovery Center in Frisco. It was a neat interactive place that showed how cartoons are made. The kids loved it! Thanks for all the pics Tracey :)

Zoo

The kids and I ventured to the zoo with our friends Tracey and Kaelyn a week or so ago. They had a $5 admission deal going on, the weather was gorgeous, it wasn't crowded at all, and they had just opened a new exhibit for the elephants, zebras, giraffes, and lions. It was fantastic!! They even let you feed the giraffes up close ($5 for a few pieces of lettuce...next time we will remember to pack our own!). We had such a blast and spent most of the day there.

T-Ball!!

Aidan just started playing T-ball. He was supposed to be on a team with 3 of his buddies but it didn't work out that way...they took all the new players and spread them out among different teams. So, we're making the best of it and meeting new friends :) He's the "new guy" on his team, the Rangers. He's the youngest and smallest player (some of the boys are in kindergarten and first grade!) but is really holding his own. He loves going to practice, although I'm having to get used to the grind of going twice a week for an hour. Games start at the end of this month. Go Rangers!!

Avery loves watching Bubba and playing at the park during practice. If you look closely you can check out the huge bruise on her forehead from running and hitting her head on the windowsill Monday night. Fun times!
