Swim Lessons

Aidan and Avery both had their first week of swim lessons this week. They are in separate classes but they meet at the same time at the same pool which is GREAT! I thought Aidan might be a little too advanced for his class since he started swimming on his own last summer, but they are working with him on technique and going under, so he's getting a lot out of it. Avery is finally old enough to be in a class without me having to get in with her, and I'm loving it :) She's doing a much better job of sitting and listening than she did last year. Definitely money well spent this time around!

Children's Aquarium

Some pics from our trip to the new Children's Aquarium in Fair Park! I forgot my camera so these are all from my phone. The hands-on stingray exhibit was our favorite!

Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated Father's Day by going to church, and having Cody, Amy, Sage, and Logan over to eat breakfast-for-lunch per Daniel's request (bacon, eggs, waffles, and hash browns). This past Friday our MOMS Club had a craft party over here. One of the members took pictures of the kids in dress-up clothes, and another member interviewed all the kids and made a video...here's ours! I don't know why Aidan insisted on wearing those black "disguise" glasses. He would not take them off! Anyway, we are so blessed to have a fun and hard-working dad, and we love all of the other dads and grandpas in our life. Happy Father's Day!!!

VBS #1

The kids went to VBS at my friend Kimberly's church this week. They take kids as young as 3 so it's been a favorite of mine since Aidan turned 3! This was Avery's first year to go and they both loved it. The theme was "Shake It Up" (cooking theme...so fun!). Both of them had one or two friends in their classes, and the assembly on the last day was super cute.

Right after the assembly I went to my MOMS Club end-of-year party where the club surprised me with a movie gift package (including popcorn, candy, and $50 to AMC!). I'm glad to pass the President torch to someone new in a couple weeks, but it's been a fun year :) Here's me with Ginny, Tracey, and Kimberly at Houlihan's after the party.

T-Ball Highlights

This past weekend was the Closing Ceremonies for all of the baseball teams. Aidan's team the Rangers came in 1st place for t-ball!! We had an end-of-year party at a nearby park (SO HOT...do baseball coaches not realize that it's June? In Texas?). We had a great year and here are some of the fun moments:

Our Summer So Far

It's Day 3 of Summer Vacation and here's what we've been up to! Wednesday we went to a Cars 2 on Tour promotion that was held at a mall in Dallas. They had life-sized models of the cars from the movie which sounded great but when we got there I realized we had to wait in line around the entire parking lot. I should have just called it a day, but my kids love Cars (Avery as much as Aidan) so we forged through and waited. For TWO HOURS in June. What was I thinking? The kids did okay in the line but definitely had their moments. We were with a friend from Mom's Club who has a son Aidan's age, so that made it a little more bearable. I was also able to make water runs without dragging my kids with me and losing my place in line! Here are the pics...as you can tell, Avery was D-O-N-E by the time we got up to the cars. And so was I! We didn't even get to really look at them...they ushered us through quickly for pictures. There was also a bounce house but Avery was too short, and the surface was so hot Aidan burned his feet. Then I realized we lost Avery's beloved plastic tiger and lion. What a waste of a day!!! Lesson learned.

Yesterday we met my friend Sarah and her boys in Allen at a fun outdoor beach and waterpark. The kids had a blast!

Here's Aidan and his friend Bryce after their t-ball game against each other Wednesday night. One more game on Saturday! We've had to make up lots of rained-out games so I am SO ready for this season to be over!

Today we went to a party at the local library. Another hot, crowded outdoor activity...why do I torture myself? The lines for the petting zoo (which Avery LOVED) and the bounce house weren't bad, but Aidan really wanted a sword from the balloon lady so we waited in a 45-minute line, only to have his sword pop two minutes later on the way to the car. I swore that would be our LAST outdoor activity until October (unless there is a spraypark or pool involved)!
