Aidan's first Halloween was lots of fun! After carving pumpkins that afternoon with Mommy and Grammy, Aidan got dressed up again to go trick-or-treating. We went to our neighbors' and then to Uncle Cody and Aunt Amy's, and finally we went to Kaelyn's house. Aidan was a great sport but by 7:00 he was ready to get in his spooky pajamas and go to bed! I think he was tired of wearing all his Halloween gear (jeans, shirt, vest, bandana, hat, boots, holster, and gun!). He also had his six-month doctor visit yesterday and everything looks great! He weighed 16 lbs. 6 oz and is 26" long (40th percentile for both) and he only cried for a few seconds after getting his shots!
Aidan tried peas for the first time last night. He sure made some funny faces! We'll try carrots later this week. I've decided to be industrious and make my own vegetables so we'll see how long that lasts ;) Papi was here this weekend and Aidan had a great time with him. The two of them went to Home Depot, the drugstore, then to Whataburger for breakfast (Papi loves Whataburger and there are none in Florida!). Tonight we went to the Fall Festival at our church. Aidan wore his cowboy outfit and was the cutest kid there!
Aidan is six months old today! Grammy is here from Florida and will be here all next week. She came with us to gym class yesterday and today we went to get Aidan's portraits done. We really lucked out because he was in SUCH a happy, smiley mood! I included a couple of really good ones, including a preview of his Halloween costume! Tonight we are meeting Papi for Mexican food (he is flying in just for the weekend).
We ventured to Waco again for Baylor Homecoming this past weekend. Daniel had been in Austin last week on business so Aidan and I met him halfway. We wanted to see as much of the parade as possible, but Aidan slept until 7:30 that morning (and I make it a point never to wake him up in the mornings!!) and by the time we got ready and drove in from Crawford, we only saw the last 15 minutes or so. Then we went to the football game and Aidan loved hanging out with his "cousins" Katy and Hannah and cheering on the bears! Notice that he and Daniel and I all had on matching shirts :) All the excitement wore him out and he fell asleep during the second quarter. The Bears were down by a lot when Aidan and I left at halftime, but then they came back to win the game!
We headed to the Owen's Farm Pumpkin Patch today! It was pretty warm outside, so Aidan wore his Baylor t-shirt most of the time. When I changed him into his fall outfit for some pictures, he was pretty unhappy! I don't think he liked sitting up against the hay, so I ended up using a blanket. We got to see some farm animals and take a hayride! It was lots of fun and he took a great nap on the way home :)
We gave Aidan his first taste of rice cereal tonight! He was curious at first, but towards the end he started to make faces and spit it out. It's going to take practice, I guess. We've been trying out the sippy cup as well. Aidan's Great Grandmother and Cookie were in town this weekend, and Aidan thought Great Grandmother was HI-LARIOUS! Something about the sight of her or the sound of her voice cracked him up.
Here are some random pictures from around the house and at the park where he was doing his best "Eddie Munster" impression. I guess it was a Bad Hair Day :) There's also one that Daniel took of the two of us catching a Sunday afternoon nap after our busy weekend. Check out my attractive open mouth! It has been really nice outside this week but it's a little cooler today and we both have sniffly noses. Aidan also has a runny nose so we're going to hang out indoors for the rest of the day.
My friend Whitney got married this weekend! I was in the house party so it was quite a busy and fun weekend. Aidan and Daniel came up to the church briefly (I had to be there early) to show off Aidan's shirt I had made just for the occasion. Congratulations Whitney and Shawn!!!
Aidan is such a fun little boy these days...he has changed more this month than he has any other month so far. He is very observant and smiley, can sit up great and play on his own, is very vocal, and is very interested in whatever Daniel and I are holding or doing. I think we will be starting solids very soon (rice cereal). I am proud of both of us for doing so well with the nursing for this long!
This was a weekend of firsts for Aidan...it was his first trip to Waco and Crawford, his first glimpse of Baylor, his first time to meet Uncle Marcus and cousins Katy and Hannah, and even the first time his Uncle Jacob held him! Aidan did great on the trip and unlike our previous trip to West Texas, he slept pretty good. He had a blast with Grandpa and Nanna out in Crawford! He loved going for a walk around their land and loved looking at their dog Bogie. Aidan and I decided to hang out with Hannah and Aunt Jenna while the rest of the gang went to the Baylor game. It's always fun for me to go back to Baylor. I bought Aidan a t-shirt for this fall and one for next fall (and yes Leslie, I got one for Jack too!) It was a fun trip and hopefully Aidan will sleep great tonight :)
