Disney PWC Trip Part 1 - Magic Kingdom
Daniel's PWC partner trip was this year, and we chose to take the kids to one of the Disney family sites! We stayed at the Grand Floridian where most of the PWC stuff was, including a meet-and-greet with Pixar characters on Thursday night. The kids and I went to Magic Kingdom Friday while Daniel stayed behind for meetings, and Papi and Grammy met us there too! It rained towards the end of our day but it was so fun and we did everything our list, except for Space Mountain which was down. Aidan was featured in the Monsters, Inc. laugh floor show which was one we hadn't done before. Avery also freaked out a little as we were about to do Haunted Mansion so they had to escort the two of us out (one reason I was so glad Papi and Grammy were there, so stay with Aidan!) but we loved the rest of the rides, including Peter Pan's Flight, PhilharMagic, Swiss Family Treehouse, It's A Small World, Prince Charming's Carousel (just Avery and Grammy did that one), Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean (which we almost didn't get to ride because it was down ALL DAY which was the same thing that happened to us 6 years ago)!
School Fun
The kids have been getting their feet wet with school work, and school fun! They had Homecoming at school this past week with fun themes for every day!
In addition to SCS stuff, Aidan just started Cotillion at a local country club with several 6th graders from school. I love how handsome he looks!
Sic 'Em Bears!
We went to our first Baylor game of the season! Admittedly this has been a bad season for the Bears so we weren't hopeful, but we ended up making #3 Oklahoma work for their win! It was a great game, and it was made even better by the fact that our friends the Denneys were there too, with David's brother who is looking at going to Baylor next year! We also saw our Wylie neighbors the Kleas who were cheering for OU!
Fun with Family & Old Friends
We had the Dixons and Halls over for Labor Day. I forgot to get a picture of all the kids together but here's one of the older four with our popular unicorn floatie!
Daniel and Aidan went hunting with Marcus and James, so Avery and I decided to go to Wylie for the night! She spent the night with the Dixons and went to the Wylie Rodeo with them, while I went to dinner with my friends Tracey and Kimberly. I spent the night with Kimberly and the next day Avery and I went to our old neighborhood to see our friends for lunch! The girls all ran out and hugged Avery when we got there, which was so sweet. We sure do miss our Wylie friends!!
We also had dinner with our old GCA friends the Sikes' and Fords! The kids were so happy to see each other.
Grammy was in Colorado visiting Jason, Kelly, and Baby Hudson and was scheduled to fly through Dallas the day before Hurricane Irma hit, so she decided to stay safe at our house instead of flying on to Miami! Papi was in Canada on business and came a few days later. Luckily they were able to get home just a few days later. Our kitchen was under rennovation so it was a little crazy, but luckily we like to eat out as much as we like to cook!
We had a great time seeing them and were so glad their condo and all their belongings were okay in Miami!

Fixer Upper
We had a couple places in the house that really needed updated, so what better time than during back-to-school craziness than to get it started? We updated our master bathroom which took about 3 weeks (new paint on the walls and vanity, new countertops, new tile, new lighting and hardware, and completely new shower). Worth the wait!!! We LOVE it. As soon as that was done, we started on the kitchen with new countertops, backsplash, hardware, and new doors/drawers/paint/hardware for the cabinets. That whole process took less than a week and we're thrilled with the results. Good-bye 1990s!
Master Bathroom Before:
After: Kitchen Before: Kitchen After: Also, Daniel has been discovering some MAJORLY hidden talents in craftsmanship! He made some upper cabinets for a built-in that was in our dining room that we had painted to match our kitchen cabinest (you can see how it looked before in the right side of this picture from the house listing): After: He also made this huge TV stand for our formal living room: And this one for the family room: Starting to feel more and more like home!
