Great Pa

We lost my grandfather in December. The funeral was in Hodges and the service was small but so nice. Afterwards the new owners of Pa and Gamma's house (where we grew up going) who are friends of theirs invited us to come see what they'd done to it, and it was so neat to see walls knocked down and everything updated! This is the tribute I wrote about Pa on Facebook: “Pa” was perfectly imperfect and SO much fun. Everyone in our family was crazy about him and my kids adored him. I grew up visiting him and my grandmother at their farm, and they would take me, my brother, and my cousins on trips to their mountain home in Ruidoso where we were spoiled beyond belief. He was a giant kid who loved playing pranks and jumping out from his porch to scare us when we came to visit. I'm so glad I have his laugh on video playing with my kids. He was an engineer at heart and loved to tinker with stuff around his barn, creating things such as a homemade zipline for my kids, but his confusion over any kind of technology gave us endless laughs. He was a Merchant Marine, Dartball champion (baseball but with darts...he has many trophies!), cards and dominoes player, dessert-lover, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and much more. We'll miss him fiercely.
