Miscellaneous June

Avery went on her youth choir's mission trip to New Orleans, then both the kids went to youth camp!

Grammy and Papi kept Hudson in Waco for a few days...Grammy brought Hudson up to Fort Worth to swim at Aunt Marsha's country club and see Cole and his boys so I drove over to join them! Avery was on her mission trip, Aidan had to work, and Daniel was in Amsterdam so they all missed out!

While the kids were at camp, Daniel and I went to stay at the new Drover Hotel in Fort Worth for a night of R&R...it was cowboy-themed and so nice! We had to evacuate at around 10:30 because of an alarm (we never did find out what it was) which was crazy but funny.

I hung out with friends and I saw Hairspray twice! Tracey and I both won tickets in the seat lottery, so I went once with her and once with Avery. During the second performance, the show was interrupted and delayed TWICE for technical difficulties! Definitely crazy (especially after the evacuation at our hotel a few nights earlier), but worth it. Such a cute show!

Costa Rica Part 2

After a few days on the beach, we drove inland and stayed at The Springs resort near the Arenal volcano! This place was amazing and the view of the volcano was incredible...I couldn't take enough pictures of it! We took a shuttle to a nearby "adventure" area with white water rafting and an animal sanctuary. We didn't get to hug a sloth like Avery and I were hoping, but we still saw a couple and a bunch of other really neat animals. They had hot springs interspersed with the swimming pools and it felt amazing. We were sad to leave!

Costa Rica Part 1

After a month of graduation/end-of-year craziness and a few days of no power and electricity, we emptied out our fridge, packed in the dark, and then hopped on a plane for Aidan's graduation trip to Costa Rica! We decided to let the kids each invite a friend so Avery brought Olivia, but since Summer couldn't make it Aidan decided to not bring anyone. After a horrendous day of traveling (our flight was delayed and delayed and delayed from 7pm to 6am and after all that they forgot to send our luggage until the NEXT day), we arrived and drove our rental car to Jaco Beach where we spent our first 3 nights in a condo on the beach. We had a great view and the housekeeper Raquel even made us breakfast one morning. We definitely got our fill of delicious food and drinks on this trip! There was even a small casino nearby so Daniel and I took Aidan gambling since he was a newly legal adult!

More May Fun

Avery squeezed in one last choir concert for the year! She had to miss her choir banquet because it fell on Aidan's graduation day, but she will busy as ever next year!

She also had her leadership banquet for DOLLS, the after-school bible study where she served as secretary this year!

She also had her last day of sophomore year and didn't know it! They were supposed to go until May 30th, but a bad storm on May 28th knocked out power in our area (it stayed off at our house for days, of course). Garland ISD cancelled the last 3 days of school AND finals - hooray!

She and I went to Waco to drop Griffin off with Grandpa and Nanna before our trip, and we also stayed with Grammy! Papi was out of town, but we celebrated her 70th birthday with her and surprised her with a yard sign Jason and I had ordered! Avery and I also really enjoyed her A/C and electicity for a night, since we had none at home!

Aidan and I went to Arkansas orietation, where he stayed in the dorm he'll be living in next year! He and I went to lots of seminars, ate some dorm food, and he signed up for his first semester of college classes! He and Cade also learned the Arkansas hog call!
