Preteen Camp

Aidan went to his first preteen camp with our church last week! It's for kids who have finished 3rd-5th grade, so this was his first year to go. He was a little nervous but he had a few good friends going, and our children's minister is great (and is the mom of one of his friends). They swam, jumped on The Blob, played games, had Bible study, and had fun. They also had Nerd Prom and although I helped put together a GREAT ensemble, he opted just to wear regular clothes and just a couple of the accessories. Maybe next year he'll go all out! He did get a little homesick the last day, but he toughed it out and we were SO glad to see him!
Here's the nerdy outfit I hope he'll wear next year!

Brownie Swim Party!

Our Brownie troop decided to get together for a swim playdate, and luckily everyone was able to make it! Our friend Jill and her daughter Jaycie were nice enough to host us at their house! The girls had a blast together. It's been disgustingly hot so the water felt amazing!

4th of July Weekend

We celebrated our nation's birthday by going to watch the Sachse fireworks on July 3rd with our next-door neighbors! The kids have really enjoyed playing with Nathan this summer. The next night we ate out at Olive Garden, watched more fireworks from the yard, and enjoyed some family time!
Sunday night I went with my friend Courtney to see Dirty Dancing the musical! It was cheesy but fun :) A few days later the kids and I went to her house to swim with her and Cody and Blake!

VBS and Answered Prayers

Our Vacation Bible School was this week, which is something the kids and I always look forward to! We invited a lot of friends including classmates, girls from Avery's troop, Sage and Logan, Kaelyn, and even our next-door neighbor Nathen :)
We also got to see friends of ours that moved away when the kids were little! George and Lindsay Jacobus's kids came to our VBS this week and we went bowling with them and their grandparents and cousins! Even though the kids don't remember each other, it was great to see them together!
Also this week, while my parents were in Colorado visiting Uncle Jason and Aunt Kelly, Jason came down with a scary bout of viral meningitis. He had to be care-flighted to a hospital in Denver and put on antibiotics (once they sedated him enough to do an MRI and make the diagnosis) and he made a miraculous recovery! It was a very uncertain couple of days but God is SO good, as usual, and had everything under control. Jason is home but is still on the mend. I am so thankful for my awesome brother, and for all of God's plans that were put into place, such as my parents being there and his amazing wife by his side.
