Dance Recital
Avery just had her dance recital and she did great!! She did a tap routine and a ballet routine and we were so proud of her. She had to miss the big rehearsal this past Thursday because she was still sick, but bounced back in plenty of time for the performance. I am so grateful to my sweet friend Jennifer for coming over beforehand and putting her hair up in a bun...I cannot do Dance Hair! Grandpa and Nanna Steward drove up from Crawford, and Aunt Amy and Cousin Sage came to watch too. We went for a swim to celebrate afterwards and I think she'll sleep like a brick tonight.

San Antonio Family Vacay
We decided to get away for a few days at the Wild Oak Hyatt resort in San Antonio! The weather was kind of dreary so we didn't see much sun, but the upside was that it wasn't hot! It rained some but we also had plenty of time at the pool. Avery loved the water slides, and Aidan played tons of pool basketball. There were tons of activities for the kids to do, including Camp Princess-for-a-Day for Avery! We also relaxed on the lazy river and found a little beach for the kids to play. On our last night we met up with my cousin Jeff and his wife Barb, and their kids Tyler and Clara! It was fun except Avery got sick right when we got there, and then again right before we left. NO idea where it came from (carsickness or vacation overload or stomach bug), but she was sick pretty much all day today on the drive home. But at least it happened at the end of our fun vacation, and not at the beginning :)
Klyde Warren Park
The day after Aidan's last day, we celebrated our First Official Day of Summer by having lunch with Daddy and then going to Klyde Warren Park, a new park in downtown Dallas. I didn't realize until we got there that there were spray parks everywhere, so I let the kids get their clothes wet. They rode home in their underwear and didn't care :)

2nd Grade Party and Field Day
Aidan's class went to Kid Mania for their end-of-year party where they climbed, bounced, and played video games. Then we headed to the park for pizza and playtime. I had thrown a football in the car that morning and I'm so glad I did! Another parent had the same idea so our boys (and a few of the girls) had a blast playing football.
This morning was their last day of school. Aidan got an award for reading, and his teacher gave him a Laffy Taffy Award for always being someone who laughs easily :) After the Awards Ceremony they had field day, which is what Aidan lives for all year!
I just love his sweet class so much and can't believe they are headed to third grade. Mrs. Denman was a fabulous 2nd grade teacher and Aidan had a great year! He has grown so much this year but still has his funny, sweet personality and still runs to me, not yet away from me, when I show up at school. It is no wonder he always has a flock of friends around him because of his goofy sense of humor and his ability to get everyone involved in whatever friendly competition is going on :) We are so proud of the big kid he has become!
Kindergarten Party and Graduation
Avery's kindergarten class went to Pump It Up for their end-of-year party and had a blast! They bounced to their heart's content and then had pizza.
They had graduation and Avery did so great. I was worried she would fidget and she didn't much (although she started squinting, gotta love my quirky girl). I just can't believe the year is over! We love Mrs. Heidelberg for being both of our kids' wonderful kindergarten teacher!
Kindergarten was definitely fun, but it was also a little challenging for Avery to go from laid-back part-time preschool to full-time kindergarten where she had to make all new friends, get used to a new routine, and work very hard at focusing and processing what was taught. She never ceases to amaze me with what she can do. She is so beautiful inside and out and we are SO very proud of her :)
