Busy Saturday

Grammy is in Texas this week while Papi is out of the country for business. She spent the past week in Midland, then was in Fort Worth with the rest of the Jolly family for the wedding of a family friend. So I took the kids over to swim at the hotel, then go out for mexican food with my relatives. Then we drove back home for a birthday party for Avery's friend Bianca (Alice in Wonderland theme), followed by Cousin Sage's 2nd birthday party (cowgirl theme with water fun in the backyard!). Needless to say they're sleeping great tonight!

A Typical Summer Week

I think the kids (and ME) go crazy in the summer because there's no MDO routine. So I rely on Moms Club plans, playdates with friends, and community activities to keep from going stir crazy. Here's what we did this week:

-Monday: swam with Moms Club friends
-Tuesday: went to California Pizza Kitchen with Moms Club for a free tour and pizza making! Then we baby-sat Sage & Logan that afternoon, and then Cody & Amy baby-sat for our kids that night (Daniel played basketball and I went out to celebrate a friend's birthday).
-Wednesday: Moms Club meeting, then had Kaelyn over (her mom and I did some baby-sitting relay...she went to lunch with friends, then I got my nails done!)
-Thursday: went to the library to see an animal exhibit, then went to lunch with friends
-Friday: met up with some of my sorority sisters and their kiddos at the mall

Vacation Bible School

Aidan did VBS at a friend's church last week for the second year in a row. He was in a class with three of his buddies so he had a good time :) They put on a cute assembly at the end of the week. Aidan loves practicing the songs at home, but gets stage fright when it's time to perform! Oh well.

More Summer Fun!

Summer is in full swing! Aidan is doing VBS this week, and Avery and I were scheduled to do a week-long music class. But she got a random fever and upset tummy a couple of days ago and just bounced back, so we've had to skip a couple of days. Other than that, we've just been hanging out with friends and at home trying to stay cool!

Closing Ceremonies

This past weekend we had Closing Ceremonies for all the baseball leagues. Luckily blastball went first so we quickly ducked out afterwards...it was SO HOT. Aidan loves his first trophy!

Church Friends

Today we hosted a big preschool playdate for all the kids' friends (and mine!) from church. The kiddos played inside for a bit, and then outside with the blow-up pool and slip n slide. Then it was lunchtime and more playtime before everyone headed home. All in all there were two babies, eleven kids, and seven moms. It was a madhouse, but a fun one!!

Last Day of School

I love summer but I am always so sad when MDO comes to an end! Both kids had such a terrific year with wonderful teachers. Thank you Miss Merri, Miss Kathy, Miss Toni, and Miss Robin (and all the wonderful workers)!!

Summer Fun!

It's still May but it feels like summer! We've already been to one of our neighborhood pools twice...one of them has a small spraypark that was broken all summer last year but works great now. Aidan still swims on his own with a lifejacket but I plan to put both the kids in swim lessons in July, so maybe he'll be able to swim without one soon! We're noticing Avery is a little more timid about getting in the water. Last year she would jump to you without a care in the world, but this year she's taking her time and making sure we've got her first. Yesterday we headed to Granbury to hang out with Cookie and Jeff for the day. We swam at their condo and then went to a Memorial Day party at their country club. Happy Memorial Day!

Aidan's New Wheels!

Papi and Grammy weren't able to come for Aidan's birthday, so this weekend they brought Aidan a belated birthday present...a new bike! Aidan was so excited and it took him all of two minutes to get the hang of it. Now I need to figure out what to do with Avery...Aidan has passed his tricycle on to her, but she needs lots of help and I can't exactly inch along with her while Aidan is pedaling down the street. I'm now on the lookout for one of those ride-on cars with the long handle for adults to push.

Lewispalooza

This weekend my whole family (Grammy, Papi, Uncle Jason, Great-Pa, and Gamma) came to visit! Everyone got to come watch Aidan play blastball on Saturday morning, and the rest of the time we just ate, played games, and had a good time. We also skyped in with my uncle's entire family who were staying with my cousin in Alaska. It was a surprise for my grandparents, and they were excited to talk to everyone at once! Since my family wasn't able to come for Aidan's birthday, Grammy and Aidan made a belated pirate birthday cake. He also got a toy bow and arrow from Uncle Jason!
