I know most "first haircut" pictures are of toddlers, but Aidan is just so ahead of the curve that he was ready for his first haircut at only three months old! He had some very long wisps in the front that needed to be snipped (the Donald Trump Combover just wasn't working), so I took him to my hairstylist today. Aunt Lindsay came with us and Aidan had so much fun with her while I was getting my hair cut! Then he sat in my lap for his turn while Lindsay took pictures. And yes, I did save his first lock of hair. Afterwards, Aidan went to McDonalds for the very first time. What an exciting day!
We put Aidan's walker together last night so he could have a tray to play with his toys on. He likes it, but his feet are still several inches from the floor and he gets tired after a few minutes. Here he is napping in his swing and grinning for the camera! His new hobbies are kicking things, and standing up (with help, of course).
Here are some pictures of Aidan with two of his favorite toys, his jungle playmat and his fish mirror that we use for tummytime. He had a very up-and-down day today. We think some bottom teeth may be on their way! When he's happy, he's very happy, but when he's upset...it's all over! Kind of like that nursery rhyme about the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead.
Aidan's been a little fussy off and on during the last week or so. I think he may still be recovering from all our company over 4th of July weekend! He takes one good three-hour nap in the mornings, but going down for short naps throughout the rest of the day is getting to be a challenge. Nights are getting better. He goes down around 8pm and stays asleep until almost 5am (although last night he had a relapse and was up at 3). He has been using his hands more...he loves to swipe at the animals on his jungle playmat, and sometimes he'll even grab at a toy, although usually by accident. He's also becoming a drool factory so he's wearing lots of bibs these days! Tummy time is getting better since we started propping him up on the boppy. He hates when we put him directly on the floor. In other news, I threw a baby shower for my friend Sarah who is having twin boys later this summer. Aidan can't wait to meet his new playmates Rhett and Wyatt!
Aidan is having such a fun weekend! His grandparents Grammy and Papi are here from Florida, and his great-grandparents (Gamma and Great Pa) and Uncle Jason are also here. Grammy gave him two new books, Papi gave him some different colored "high-top sneaker" socks, and Gamma gave him his first pair of sunglasses. Last night we had a surprise 80th birthday party for Great Pa so Aidan got to help him celebrate. When Aidan is not napping or snuggling with Grammy, he is the center of attention in the living room. He also loves his new bumbo seat!
We are trying to ease into a schedule here at the Steward household. Aidan has started going to bed earlier (8-8:30) and although he still gets up once during the night to eat, he's getting a little better about waking up at a semi-normal time in the mornings. He also loves to sit upright and look straight ahead, and we've ordered a seat just for infants who can't sit up on their own. Here he is in bed with Daddy, sporting a funny outfit from his Aunt Lindsay. It's a challenge trying to get smiling pictures these days because he's interested in the camera, so we have to be sneaky.
We've had kind of a low-key week around here. Nights are better now that Aidan usually sleeps anywhere from 5-7 hours straight. He's also started cooing and laughing a little bit. Happy Father's Day!!!
Here are some pictures from Aidan and Bryson's dedication this morning! Aidan slept through the service, but was wide awake for pictures. It was very special because the church presented him with a bible that had his name on it, as well as a plaque. "Grandpa" Mike, "Nanna" Diane, and Uncle Jacob drove up from Crawford, and Uncle Cody and Aunt Amy were also there.
Just wanted to post a couple more cute pictures. One is of Aidan's sweet smile that we've been catching a little more frequently lately. The other is in his "old man pants" which make us laugh. More fun pics below!
We had a busy day today, starting with a visit to Daddy's office! After getting a "faux-hawk" hairdo, we went to lunch at Pei Wei downtown with Tom, Mirna, and Ella. It's interesting because I realized the only two times Aidan has really gotten fussy WHILE nursing were after I ate at Pei Wei, so I am probably going to hold off on the spicy Asian food for a while. Anyway, after we rested at home for a while we went to a party with friends from church. Aidan and his buddy Bryson had matching outfits and we couldn't resist taking some pictures! We're looking forward to relaxing this Saturday, and then on Sunday he and Bryson are getting dedicated at the church...stay tuned for pictures!
Aidan's favorite thing these days is to look around at his surroundings. So the baby bjorn comes in helpful...it gives us free hands while he can see what's going on. He is awake more during the day and is known to get a little fussy if he's not entertained to his satisfaction! So Daniel and I are court jesters these days :) He also started smiling recently!!! He has to be in just the right mood, but we were lucky enough to catch it on video today. He got hot in the car ride home from lunch, so we took his onesie off and blew on him to cool him down, and he loved it!
Aidan had a fun Memorial Day weekend with lots of visitors! "Grampa" Mike and "Nanna" Diane came to town along with Aunt Kathleen and Uncle Jacob. Jacob was a little nervous about the whole baby scene so he steered clear, but everyone else (especially Nanna!) enjoyed cuddling with Aidan. Then Cookie and Great-Grandmother were in town on their way to North Carolina and the whole family ate dinner here last night. We can definitely tell that Aidan is getting bigger and bigger each day! He has already outgrown his newborn onesies and newborn-size diapers. He is starting to coo a little every now and then and we're still waiting for that smile...unfortunately the cute gassy smiles don't count!
Aidan is one month old!! It's hard to believe how much he has grown in the last few weeks. We are having so much fun with him...I think his first smile is just around the corner (we catch hints of it now and then). He still dislikes bathtime, but loves going on walks around the block with us in the evenings. We went to dinner tonight with our friends Tom and Mirna who had their daughter Ella just three weeks before Aidan was born. Ella had eyes for Aidan, but Aidan slept through everything! Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day weekend :)
