October Miscellaneous

Senior Day for the football seniors wasn't the one they expected or deserved, but we rolled with it. Nonstop rain the week leading up to the game (and a monsoon the night before) meant our field was underwater. We were able to use a nearby school's turf field that we had played on before, but that meant the boys had played their last home game the weekend before and didn't realize it. Our athletic team went above and beyond to still make the day special for them. Since it was still raining before the game, we moved the senior presentation to halftime. It had stopped raining by then, but since we were playing the toughest team in the district, they 45'd us and the game was over. Our boys had 45'd other teams plenty of time but this was the first time I remember it being done to us. Needless to say they were pretty broken-hearted and bummed out during their presentation, but we as parents could not be more proud of them! Way to go Aidan, Riley C, and Riley P! We really appreciate Grandpa and Nanna Steward, Cody and Logan Dixon, and our neighbor friend Ken for braving the rain to cheer him on!

We started the month with a choir concert for Avery and we also saw the Taylor Swift Eras tour movie. We went with Tracey and Kaelyn, and Summer was able to join us! The movie made us feel like we were at the concert which was so fun since we didn't get to go to the actual concert! The girls sang every word to every song - I sang along with a few but mostly just snacked on popcorn!

We ended the month with Halloween! Low-key for us and Daniel was in London, but Aidan and Summer went to at a party, and Avery and I hung out in our old neighborhood. The adults watched Game 4 of the World Series and cheered the Rangers on to a victory, and then I took several of the teens to the local haunted car wash (I was extra proud of scairdy-cat Avery for being brave and trying something new!)

Last but not least, here are the kids' school pictures! I still can't comprehend the cap and gown one!

Homecoming Part 4

Daniel and I helped carpool Avery and Landon from dinner to the dance (then we went to dinner with friends to celebrate finally getting crazy Homecoming night started off without a hitch!), then she went to an after-party at her friend Lily's house and had a blast!

Aidan's class did a casino night before the dance, then after the dance they had an all-night party at a rec place. He came home and crashed for most of the day on Sunday!

Homecoming Part 3

One of the benefits of having the kids' Homecomings at the same time was that we got to use the fabulous WPA photographer Carol for Avery and her date Landon and their friends as well! Carol did NOT disappoint and the pictures of all the kids were so amazing. Aidan looked handsome - and had a beautiful date! Avery looked GORGEOUS and Landon was handsome as well! Avery was happy to get to see some of her WPA friends at pictures too. After that it was off to dinners, the dance, and after-parties!
