Kicking off Spring Break!
We had yet another snow day on the last day of school before Spring Break. We had several inches of snow, enough to make actual snowmen! It was fun but I am SO ready for spring!
My friends and I decided to get together and watch The Sound of Music one rainy day! My friend Kimberly had NEVER seen it (gasp!) so it was sort of an intervention for her. She loved it of course, because how could you not? The kids mainly played upstairs but we made them come watch So Long, Farewell, and the girls all came down to watch the wedding scene. It was a fun way to spend the first official day of Spring Break!

Avery's Big Week
In addition to working at TWO booth sales this week, Avery and her class put on a chapel program for their school (unfortunately my flash wasn't working when I took a picture of her solo speaking part). They all did a great job!
Also, my incredible little girl competed in a speech competition through her school today! She had to memorize a 4-verse passage from the Bible and then explain what the verses meant to her. Mrs. Denman (the 2nd grade teacher at GCA who will be Avery's teacher next year) coached them for several weeks. Avery did really well considering it was her first time, and she got a "good" ribbon. I think she needs to work on expression and maybe she can compete again next year! She had a great attitude and wasn't nervous at all. Hard to believe that this is the same girl that was in speech therapy 5 years ago as a toddler because we were worried she'd never talk. Way to go Avery!

Scouts and Sports
Our Girl Scout troop participated in World Thinking Day and represented Australia with a display board, costumes, food ("shrimp on the Barbie" and fruit), koala swaps, and crafts. It was so much fun!
We're also nearing the end of cookie-selling season, and four of our girls braved the freezing temps to sell outside Walmart for two hours!
Today marked the end of Upward Basketball and Cheer. It was such a fun season! The last game which was scheduled for yesterday was cancelled due to this week's crazy weather...which was a bummer because it was the only game of Aidan's that Avery was scheduled to cheer for. But today they had their awards ceremony, where they got to see some basketball stunt guys. Avery and her squad also cheered for everyone!
Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Date Night
Other things keeping us busy lately:
Avery and Daniel went to a fun Daddy/Daughter dance at my gym! They went with some friends of ours who stopped by to take pictures with us. After pictures of the kids, Avery insisted that Daniel and David needed to get a picture together...so they did! They all had a great time at the dance!
That same night, Aidan and I went out on a "date" of our own! We had dinner at Chili's, played a couple of video games at a local bowling alley (the wait was too long to bowl), then we went to see the Lady Swords play their basketball playoff game at GCA! They were actually playing against the school where our friends Katy, Hannah, and James Brooks attend in Waco so that was fun.Snow Days!
We had a wintry mix last Sunday night, so ice on the streets meant no school on Monday or Tuesday! We stayed cozied up at home in our pajamas and kept busy with crafts, rice krispie treat making, movies, hot cocoa, and juggling. We were back at school on Wednesday, and then on Thursday it actually snowed! The kids still got to go to school and play in the snow at recess, then our cousins came over to play at our house. BRRR!!

Home Sweet Home...soon!
After months of waiting, they have FINALLY broken ground on our house! Foundation has been poured and just this weekend they put up the framework and the kids got to stand in their rooms for the first time. So exciting!
February
February is over halfway over and I feel like we're sometimes so busy that I forget to take pictures. I've got to be better! Still, there's lots of fun stuff I've documented lately.
We celebrated Superbowl Sunday with a potluck fajita lunch with our church buddies, then we had the Dixons over to watch the game! Amy and I love trying out new Pinterest recipes for the big game :)
I made this shirt for Aidan to wear on 100th Day at school. They had to put 100 items on a shirt and I chose a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pom-pom design I'd seen on Pinterest. I love going out with friends and family! I met my cousins for dinner one night, then met my friend Courtney for lunch, then we had dinner with Daniel's co-worker and his family (his daughter Paisley is Avery's age). The kids celebrated Valentine's Day at school on the 13th with class parties and lots of Valentines! Then we went out with Daddy that night (but I forgot to take pictures). My sweet Aunt Jeri, Uncle Reggie, and Cousin Meredith decided to come see us on Valentine's Day to see Aidan play basketball, and Avery cheer! They also got to see our house that is being built, and we took them out for a delicious Tex-Mex lunch. It was so fun to see them!
