Arboretum
The kids had a school holiday recently so we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and head to the Dallas Arboretum! Aunt Amy, Sage, Logan, and Ellie came with us so we got to get some fun cousin pictures. They went home after we played at the pumpkin patch, but Aidan and Avery and I went around the Children's Garden and had a great time!

Happy Birthday Avery!
Hard to believe, but Avery is SEVEN now! She started off the day with breakfast on the red plate, and she opened her presents from us (the Lego Rapunzel tower from Mom and Dad, and a Palace Pet from Aidan). I brought lunch to school for her and Aidan, and cupcakes for her whole class. After school we had our girl scout meeting, where we had more cupcakes! I completely forgot to get a picture of the whole group...oh well. Instead of doing a big party this year, I decided to just let her invite a few friends over for a sleepover that night. She chose Cousin Sage and Ryleigh and Haylee from school. I took them to my nail salon for manis and pedis, then we had pizza at home and let the girls play. Grandpa and Nanna also came that night, so we got to spend the next day with them too. Avery, we love you SO much and are so proud of the daughter, sister, friend, and first-grader you are! Happy Birthday!!!

Mother/Daughter Campout
Avery and I went on a girl scout leader/daughter campout...yes, I actually went camping! We went with my co-leader Kimberly and her daughters Ambrielle and Marina, and our friends Tracey and Tammie were also there with their girls. We shared a platform tent with Kimberly's girls and even though it rained ALL night Friday, it kept us dry! It was a complete mudfest on Saturday though, plus it was a little cooler than I thought it would be. I seriously thought about packing it up and heading home the second night, but I toughed it out and I'm so glad I did because Avery was having a blast!! We did a scavenger hunt, learned about knots and cooking, had a campfire, and our group got to lead the flag ceremony! I can't tell you how glad I was to get home and into a shower, but this was definitely a fun experience!
Meanwhile, Baylor played a nail-biter against TCU and although I hated not being there for such an exciting game, Daniel and Aidan were and got to go down on the field afterwards. So fun!

Homecoming Week
Last week was Spirit Week at GCA, so each day there was a fun dress-up theme and then Friday was Homecoming. Tuesday was Twin Day, Wednesday was Wacky Day, and Thursday was Fifties Day! On Friday after a pep rally there was a parade where each class got to walk with the banner they made. My mom had helped with the 1st grade banner...our theme was "Chew Em Up" and the kids threw bubble gum into the crowd! Aidan's class's theme was "Pow" and they wore super hero capes. Homecoming week is always a little crazy but it is so much fun!
