Upward Basketball

Aidan's first basketball game was yesterday! It was hilarious and he seemed to really have fun, although he needs to work on his dribbling a little bit. He's also not one of the taller players...he's not short, but there are some older kids on his team, and we're predicting he'll shoot up like a week over the next few years (Daniel is obviously tall, and I'm not short myself). But Upward is such a great program and I'm so glad Aidan is enjoying basketball like his daddy! Go Polar Bears!!!

Here's a quick video. You can hear Daniel yelling "Green guy!" at him because each kid has a colored wristband that matches the wristband of a kid on the other team that they're supposed to block. Aidan's teammate with the purple wristband (that Aidan tosses the ball to towards the end of the video) is his friend Aitor:

In other news, he's trying to learn to ride his bike sans training wheels! It's hard to do this when the weather is so iffy, and Daniel travels a lot. But we'll get there. Stay tuned!

2011 in Review

2011 was a great year full of laughter, love, and fun for the Steward Family! Here are some of the highlights:

We celebrated Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, and Halloween:





We had snow in Texas!!!

Daniel and I celebrated our 10th anniversary!!

Daniel had a ton of business trips and racked up a bunch of traveling rewards...which helped us do a bunch of kid-free traveling this year, thanks to our awesome parents who baby-sat! We made an anniversary trip to Vegas, a trip to Puerto Rico, and I got to tag along on one of his business trips to New York (where we met up with my parents)!!



Aidan turned FIVE and had a birthday party at a nearby fire station!


Aidan also started KINDERGARTEN!!

Our little athlete did karate, T-ball, soccer, and just started basketball!




He also had minor surgery right before Christmas to have tubes put in his ears, and also get his adenoids taken out (the other minor surgery this year was that I got LASIK in February!):

Avery turned FOUR and had a "pre-slumber" pajama party at our house!


Avery really became a big girl this year!! She gave up her pacifier, moved from a toddler bed to a big girl bed, then was completely potty-trained (even night) within 6 weeks!

Avery also started another great year doing Mother's Day out at our church:

She did gymnastics for the first part of the year, then decided to take a break and switch to ballet (with Cousin Sage) which they love! She also started church choir with Aidan:


This summer, the kids both did swim lessons and participated in two different VBS programs (one of which I taught):



We made trips to see Pa and Gamma in Hodges, and Mema and the McCaslins in Midland:


We also made trips to Waco/Crawford to see Grandpa and Nanna (and go to a couple of Baylor games), and to Comanche to see Gigi, Cookie, and Jeff:



Aunt Lindsay got married and now we have two Uncle Jasons!

We went to DISNEY WORLD!!!


Then we spent Thanksgiving at the beach with Papi, Grammy, and Uncle Jason:

I had lots of fun with my mom friends! We enjoy regular nights out (our husbands know this keeps us sane!), and also enjoyed our 2nd annual Girls Weekend in Dallas! They also just took me out for an early birthday dinner :) Love these girls!


I also ran in a mud run with my mom friends, another mud run with my KD friends (despite the fact that my friend Jen got hurt) and one regular 5K with my friend Julia! More running planned for next year!



We celebrated Christmas with all of our family:



It was a great year to be a Baylor fan! Our awesome quarterback "RG3" won the Heisman Trophy, then Daniel and I went to see Baylor win the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio!! SIC 'EM BEARS!


We can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for us! We are so thankful for the blessings God has given us, especially our friends and family :) HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE STEWARD FAMILY!
