Easter Egg Mania

The kids had three egg hunts this week...we did one with our church friends, one with our MOMS Club friends, and they had one at school. We are looking forward to a low-key Easter weekend at home!

Gettin' Dirty!!

This past weekend I ran a 10K Mud Run with four of my KD sisters. We had been looking forward to it for MONTHS (we even had t-shirts made) and it was so much fun!!! I was nervous about the whole 10K part since I'd only done a regular 5K, but turns out we were all on the same page as far as walking a good portion of it and just enjoying the obstacles :) We army-crawled through the mud, swam through the Trinity River, did some over/under logs, crawled through tunnels, jumped over (translation: hoisted each other over) a wall, swam through a swamp, and then climbed over a 20-foot cargo net. The cargo net was 3 miles into the course (halfway), and unfortunately it was the last one we did...my friend Jen fell and landed right on her tailbone, so we booked our wet, smelly selves to the hospital! The x-rays originally showed nothing but turns out she has a compound fracture in her spine. Poor Jen!!! She was such a trooper and I'm so proud of her :) All things considered, we had a BLAST. I loved it and can't wait to do another one! Most of these are from the waterproof cameras we brought (good thinking Courtney!!) so they're a little hard to see...but you get the idea :)

My favorite! Covered in mud after the army-crawl :)

First dip into the river...BRRRR! This was my least-favorite part because the water was so cold!!!

Swimming across the river:

Climbing up the muddy embankment after the river swim...much harder than it looked:

The cargo nets...that's me climbing on the left, Courtney is climbing on the right, and Jen is in the middle on the ground. If only we could go back and time and tell her to stay there!

Me with Jen at the hospital...still smiling, what a good sport :)

10 Years!!

Daniel and I celebrated our 10th anniversary on April 7th. We have an upcoming trip to Vegas planned in May, but we still wanted to go out to dinner last week to celebrate. My friend Tracey very generously offered to let the kids spend the night at her house! We went to Kobe Steaks for dinner, and then Daniel surprised me with a hotel reservation he'd made at The Joule, a brand new luxury hotel downtown. They had a rooftop pool with live music. It was such a great night! I am so thankful that God picked out such a wonderful husband for me, and father for my children. I love you so much Daniel!

Girls' Weekend 2011

My mom friends and I had so much fun last year on our Girls' Weekend that we decided to do it again this year! The weekend we picked fell right as Daniel was finishing up his crazy period at work...so I was READY! Huge shout-out to Daniel for keeping up with the kids all weekend so I could go blow off some steam :) After Disney on Ice on Friday, our families had lunch and then the moms headed straight to the Hyatt Regency where we were staying in downtown Dallas. That night we had appetizers and drinks, followed by dinner, and then clubbing! The next day we slept in and lounged by the rooftop pool of the hotel. Saturday night we went to dinner and then another club and more dancing! We topped the weekend off by having brunch on Sunday. It was hard to come back to "reality" after a fun weekend like that, but it was SO great to get away and relax with my fellow moms Tracey, Kimberly, Ginny, Jennifer, Holly, Susan, Vanessa, and Luisa (and Dawn who drove down to join us at the pool on Saturday)...they are such a blast and I love them to pieces! Can't wait until next year!!

Disney on Ice!

We went to Disney on Ice with our Mom's Club on Friday. The theme was Toy Story 3 so I knew the kids would love it! Kaelyn rode with us since her mom had a meeting in the morning (then she met us down there later). I tried playing an April Fool's joke on them by telling them it was cancelled...but they didn't find it as funny as I did ;)
