The Night of Bad Choices

A Few Minutes Unsupervised + Baby Powder = Extended Time Out. We are still finding baby powder upstairs. What a mess!!!

My Date with Aidan

This past Saturday Daniel took Avery down to Waco for the Baylor game. I stayed home and took Aidan to his soccer game, then the two of us went to Amazing Jake's, a huge indoor playplace. We had a pizza buffet and then go-karted, played miniature golf, laser tagged, rode a few kiddie games, and Aidan even climbed a rock wall (well, a couple feet).

My First 5K!!!!

A few months ago I decided to start running (an activity I once HATED!). Then some of my mom friends decided to get a group together to train for a 5K so we trained together for about 9 weeks. We ran about 3 times a week using a couch-to-5K program which is great for beginners. This past Saturday, I ran my very first 5K and finished in just under 40 minutes! I loved it and can't wait to do another one :) I didn't set a time goal for this one, but maybe next time I will shoot for closer to 35 minutes!

Fun with the Water Hose

The weather has actually been bearable over the past few days! Today was so gorgeous that we went to the park twice! A few days ago I was watering our tree and the kids decided they needed to water themselves.

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do?

Usually Aidan wears whatever I lay out for him, but today he really wanted to wear his boots and "muscle shirt" (our family's word for a sleeveless shirt). A policeman came to visit the kids at our MOMS Club meeting this morning and talk to them about strangers. He let the kids climb in the backseat of squad car, and it made me laugh because Aidan had really dressed the part. I hope I don't see this scene again on an episode of COPS!

Rowdy the Rock

Tuesday was Aidan's turn to bring home the class "pet" Rowdy the Rock. We introduced him to Dory the fish and let him hang out in the Batcave. Tomorrow he goes back to MDO for the next kid's turn. Come back soon, Rowdy!

Speaking of Dory, he had quite a traumatic experience today. I cleaned out his bowl (during which I put him in a smaller bowl with some water) and when I poured him back in, he accidentally went down the sink disposal. I put my squeamishness aside and reached down there WITH MY BARE HANDS to scoop him out. I think that was the first time I'd ever had to touch him. Ick! But thanks to my heroic efforts he survived to live another day :)

Baby Ballet

Today was Avery's first day of Baby Ballet! It's a 6-week class that we're taking through the city. Cousin Sage is in the class, and so is Avery's friend Ambrielle. Avery didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the instruction (not surprising) but seemed to have a good time. The first day of class kind of snuck up on me so I haven't bought leotards or ballet shoes yet...luckily a friend of mine had given me one of her daughter's gymnastics leotards which seemed to work great for today. We'll see if Avery is ready for Juilliard at the end of the class!

Weekend in Waco

We ventured to Crawford to see Grandpa and Nanna this past weekend. The kids rode Rusty the horse for the first time, and also did some swimming! Aidan also went on his first fishing trip with Daniel and Grandpa. Daniel took the camera but I think he accidentally took videos instead of pictures. We also spent a little time in Waco with our friends the Brookses, and Daniel and Aidan went to the first Baylor game of the season. Go Bears!!

WEE School!

Aidan and Avery went back to WEE School this week! I was a little sad to realize that this was Aidan's last first day of preschool :( He was happy to see his school buddies Tate and Chase, as well as a few of his friends from MOMS Club. Avery is in Cousin Sage's class and they both seem to love it. Everyone was excited for this week to come, but no one was more excited than I was!!
