Mother/Son Round-Up

Our city hosted a Mother/Son round-up which was a lot of fun. Our neighbors/church friends Jessica and Chad joined us, and so did my friend Susan and her son Eric. There was a hayride, dancing, hot dogs, and games. It was a fun date with my little buckaroo!

'80s Night!

It's been a while since I've posted but we haven't really done anything exciting lately. But last night I hosted an '80s party for my fellow dorks MOMS Club friends! I stepped it up a notch by ordering a 1989 Tiger Beat magazine off Ebay which had pin-ups I used for decor (my friend Tammy brought some of her old pin-ups as well). It seriously looked like my room way back when. We listened to '80s tunes, played MASH, mad libs, and I made the paper fortune teller that we used to play as a kid (you'll remember when you see the picture). So much fun! By the way, if you're looking for cheap accessories for an '80s party, go to Claire's! It's like walking back in time. I bought my lacy headband, jelly bracelets, belt (which I ended up not wearing because it was too big), and dangle earrings there. They also had slap bracelets. The '80s are back!!

Great Wolf Lodge

Daniel worked late a lot last month so we decided to have some family time and take a mini-vacation at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine! We'd never been but a lot of my friends have. We booked a Sunday-Tuesday stay which was great because it was a little cheaper and not crowded at all after Sunday. We checked in a little early on Sunday and got to swim at the huge indoor waterpark before our room was ready. It had a little kids' area with slides (which Aidan and Avery LOVED), a giant fort with bigger slides which Aidan did a few times, a wave pool, and a lazy river. So much fun!!! Although I will say that Daniel and I thought time went by very slowly while we were there. Avery is extremely independent, and is not afraid of ANYTHING...so keeping up with her to make sure she didn't wander off or do any death-defying stunts was a full-time job. We swam Sunday afternoon, Monday morning, and Tuesday morning after we checked out. Our room was so cool...there was a mini-suite area with bunk beds that was decked out to look like a tent. The kids loved sleeping in there, and it was great because Daniel and I could stay up and watch TV without keeping them awake (I brought a sound machine to help). Our whole family took a long nap Monday, and went to the arcade and Cub Club (play area for kids) after getting a snack from the Sweet Shop. There was also a pajama storytime in the main lobby at bedtime. Aidan's MDO friend Tate and his family who are friends of ours from church were there the first day too so Aidan loved having a buddy to play with. We loved every minute of our stay there and plan to go back someday!

Blastball!

Aidan has had his first two blastball games! If you don't know what blastball is, it's like t-ball but with just one base (that honks when you step on it!). It's for 3 and 4-year-olds and score isn't kept, so it's just a great way to introduce them to the sport. We played in the fall but in the spring it's a little different...uniforms, way more teams, practices every week, etc! All the kiddos are doing great. We are on the same team as a few of our Mom's Club friends, and a neighbor who also goes to our church (his dad is our coach...and Daniel is one of the assistant coaches!). Today we played against some of our friends that are on the red team, which was fun. Aidan's friend Kaelyn came to cheer for both teams :) Go Orange Crush!

Grammy's Big Debut

My mom was invited to speak at a Baylor Women's Luncheon in Dallas this past weekend. Her hilarious website (link to the right) has been very successful and this was her first speaking engagement. Several of her friends came to see her, and so did my aunts and a cousin, and a couple of my friends. My mom was hilarious!! She did great and brought the house down...just as funny in person as in her articles. Go Grammy!

Zoo Fun

Here are some pictures from our trip to the Dallas Zoo this past Monday. We went with our Mom's Club, and Grammy came too so it was a lot of fun! Avery and I got to ride a camel which was really neat. Aidan was going to, but decided at the last minute he didn't want to. Not my fearless daughter!

Camel time!

Ever since Aidan's first trip to the zoo around age 1, my friend Tracey and I have gotten a picture of Aidan and her daughter Kaelyn together at the fish tank. It's fun to see how much more grown-up they look each year! Here's this year's, along with their friend Aitor:
