Aidan Update

Aidan is a busy man these days! I can tell he misses the routine he had at Wee School on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I'm trying to be creative with how I keep him busy. This week he finger-painted and "painted" the house with water. We stay active with his playgroup and other friends so I think we'll survive the summer. We briefly enrolled in a toddler tumbling class through our city rec department, but it was very unstructured and not worth the money. Aidan and his friend Taylor spent the whole time goofing off, so Taylor's mommy and I have decided to get the kids together on our own for free instead! Aidan is kind of in a bossy phase right now, but he's doing very well with his manners (Please, Thank You, and I'm Sorry).

Avery Update

Here are some pictures of sweet Avery Kate. She has become a ham whenever she sees a camera. I propped her up by our ottoman coffee table today and she actually stood up great for a few seconds! My friend Jen gave me some very smart advice to not buy dresses for baby girls in 6-12 month size because that's when they're crawling, but sometimes I just can't resist! Avery isn't the least bit interested in crawling right now anyway, which is fine with me :) She is a lot more verbal than physical. Quite the opposite from her big brother!

So long, Brooke!

Our friends the Jacobuses are moving to College Station this week and we are so sad to see them go! We have known Lindsay and George (who's been the youth minister at our church) since before our kids were born. Brooke is a few months younger than Aidan and they have become great buddies :) So they will have to maintain a long-distance relationship now. Avery is also sad to see Brooke's baby brother and sister go. Here are some pictures of the kids over the past two years. Luckily they are not moving too far and we will stay in touch!

Groupies for a Day

Today we got to see Uncle Jason's band play! They played in the Original Penguin store in Northpark Mall. Jason (my brother) does vocals and guitar and they sound amazing! They even did Aidan's request of "Wheels on the Bus." The lead singer is a friend of Jason's named Taylor Vieger.

Grammy's pics

Here are some pictures from Grammy's camera, and a couple from our trip to Weatherford yesterday. Aunt Marsha had knee surgery last week so we went to go visit her. We also got to see Aunt Jeri who drove in from Midland!

Friends & Family

We've had a busy week! Grammy's been in town, so we celebrated her birthday by having lunch in Fort Worth with Aunt Marsha and Cousin Sara. Aidan didn't come because it was his last day of Wee School (boo hoo!!) but Avery got to join us. Uncle Walt stopped by and she loved sitting in his lap! Then on Friday we went to see my friend Jennifer that I hadn't seen in years. She was in town from Georgia and brought her kids Drew and Allie, who were right at Aidan and Avery's ages.

More water fun

We've been spending our afternoons in the backyard and so the kids can play in their new wading pool and water table (well, Aidan plays and Avery sits). I got the idea to point Aidan's slide into the pool so he has a mini-water slide.

Splish Splash

We made a quick trip to Crawford this weekend to see Grandpa, Nanna, and Uncle Jacob. Avery finally had a chance to wear the cute bathing suit that my friend Courtney got for her (thanks Court!). We bought a floatie with a sunshade on it, which we call her "cabana." She loved her first swimming experience, and Aidan had a blast too. The pool was too cold so we all played in the hot tub instead. Don't we look like a Coppertone ad with our lovely tans?

Impromptu portraits

We were at the big outdoor mall near our house this evening and decided to take some quick pictures. Both kids had dinner stains on their shirts and Avery was wearing nothing but a onesie so they're not the best. I completely missed bluebonnet season this year so this is my lame attempt to make up for it :)

Some random pics

"Aidan do it!" is a very popular phrase these days. Today he insisted on brushing Avery's hair for her. Yesterday we went to Rhett and Wyatt's house to play. They are getting a little brother in a few months! Poor Avery will be the only girl, but she doesn't seem to mind :) We went to church on Mother's Day and then got take-out from Babe's (yummy!) and took it to the park. Getting food to go was Daddy's idea and turned out to be a good one because they were packed!

Baby Shower

We hosted a baby shower for Uncle Cody, Aunt Amy, and Cousin Sage. We made Uncle Cody play a game where he had to fold clothes, diaper and hold a baby doll, and talk on his cell phone to Aunt Lindsay (who was in the other room) all at the same time. Then he had to remember the things that Lindsay told him. Male multi-tasking at its finest! We ate hot dogs and hamburgers and then enjoyed a yummy ice cream cake. Aidan and Avery were the life of the party until the very end and then it was naptime :)

Go Team Corinne!

Aidan and I are proud to wear our new "Team Corinne" t-shirts in honor of our friend Corinne who is battling leukemia! Corinne is a few weeks older than Aidan and the daughter of a good friend of mine from college. She is doing great and we are so proud of her! I don't know why I look so insanely dorky in this picture. I think I was trying really hard to get Aidan to stay still and smile.

A Day at the Park followed by Bathtime

We went to the park today with our Sunday School class, and Avery loved sitting up and looking around. Aidan was too busy running around with his friend Brooke to stop and pose for pictures. Also, Avery has graduated to the Big Girl bath seat, although she's still a little slouchy. It's nice to be able to bathe both kids at once!
